HUKAWAI LODGE Kapa Haka Residence Program

Hukawai Lodge is a small boutique hotel that opens for three months from December 1 to February 28, during which time three Kapa Haka Residency opportunities are available, each for a one month period.  The value of each Residency is NZD12 000.

ARTIST RESIDENCY AIM Maori Performance Arts is a powerful channel of self-pride and an established platform from which to drive innovation.  We are keen to collaborate with the Hukawai Lodge Kapa Haka Residence applicants in creating innovative approaches to Kapa Haka with a view to performing in the Hukawai Lodge space.

RESIDENCY INCLUDES:

  • Weekly serviced first floor Lodge accommodation in an ensuited queen size guest room with views across the farm to the Southern Alps.  Includes coffee/tea making facilities, small fridge.  French doors open on to wrap around deck.
  • Non-menu meals, served in the dining room/cafe
  • Menu meals and beverage available to purchase
  • Private laundry
  • hukawailodge.co.nz page devoted entirely to the work produced.
  • Reimbursement of travel costs to and from Hukawai Lodge
  • Manage and lead daily Hukawai Lodge Kapa Haka performances

Residency does not include work materials, personal toiletries etc.  Paid work at the Lodge is available.
