DAY 4 (6 Days, 2 Diggers)
2x 2m tall earth wall with walkway built, as partial protection against the easterly coming down through the gorge behind. The view on top looks down to Hukawai Lodge, Hukawai Lake and to Lake Mapourika and beyond.
12 bushes transplanted to the new topiary garden.
24 trees from nursery transplanted to extension of front garden which joins Lodge to Lake, 36 to go. 2 trees to Pierre's Lake Garden before tidying up the lawn.
DAY 5 (6 Days, 2 Diggers)
All trees transplanted.
20 rose bushes in Kamila's Rose Garden - Mary Rose (pink), Paul Gauguin (russet/salmon stripes and patches), Michelangelo (orange, cream, scarlet, vermillion stripes and flecks), Titanic (creamy white, edged blush pink, fragrant), Paola (dark red, fragrant), Friesia (yellow, fragrant), Valentines Heart (creamy pink, touch of lilac, scarlet base),
Pierre's Lake Garden tidy up. Lake sealed.
DAY 6 (6 Days, 2 Diggers)
Front Garden - Lawn rennovated. To complete (at some stage) - close gaps between trees with bushes.
Arie's Japanese Garden - Moss mounds made. To complete (at some stage) - reflection pool, gravity fed fountain with 30 spouts, path, 2x 5m red gates in a Japanese style, a couple of large slate rocks, small sakura walk. Details to add - stone lanterns.
East Garden - Hedge Circle circular path and 4x axis paths dug out, 4x avenues marked out for table olives, table grapes, currants, citrus and the long path that joins them all together over which the rose arch at the north end and the peach arch at the south end are set. Waiting for hedging, trees, hothouses and veg and fruit.
Nursery tidied ready for new cuttings and plants. Remaining trees (20) ready to transplant.
Lavender Garden and Medical Herb Garden marked out. Orchard ready to plant out. Waiting for trees and plants.
Kamila's Rose Garden - To complete - more roses to go in (some time), rose gazebo/arch and seating, climbing roses for main path arch.
Nora's Moon Garden - Waiting for hedging, 3x arbours to build, planting white, silver and fragrant.
Topiary Garden - shaping late October/early November.
Pierre's Lake Garden - To build - wooden gazebo, 2x bridges, jetty. Planting - small birch wood, sugar maples, rhododendrons (translanted), azaleas, magnolias (transplanted), iris's, paeonias, wisteria (transplanted). Waiting for trees and lights.
Extension to driveway - parking area created, lined, graveled directly outside Executive Guest Room 1.
Waiting for rain...yay.
