The Birman, also called the "Sacred Cat of Burma" from whence they originate were almost wiped out as a breed during World War II. Apparently only two cats were alive in Europe at the end of the war, Orloff and Xenia de Kaabaa from which the breed was restarted.
Their distinctive features are what make Birmans so attractive - round body, broad face, roman nose, round and deep sapphire blue eyes. Their coat colour is always pointed and together with their white gloves push the cute-osity barometer to the max.
Serious breeders believe Birmans have soft voices and keep themselves spotlessly clean. They have not met Trumpet.
Every week, Trumpet and Cookie Monster write The Birman Brothers Blog about their lives at Hukawai Lodge and publish one of their many limericks.
The cats are not permitted inside the Lodge, even though a good portion of their day is spent concocting some plan or other to achieve just that. People can be allergic and also annoyed. Animal lovers love them of course and Trumpet and Cookie Monster reciprocate, but they have a lovely warm home on the deck.
